The Mukwonago Area School District has a history of providing high quality, science of reading-based early literacy instruction.  Along our strong universal instruction, the district uses exceptional assessments and interventions to provide each student with the best opportunity to become a proficient reader.

In 2023, the Wisconsin legislature passed bipartisan legislation called Act 20.  Act 20 is designed to ensure students are proficient readers by the time they leave 3rd grade.

As part of Act 20, MASD has created an Early Literacy Remediation Plan which explains how we meet the needs of all students and meet the requirements of Act 20.

In addition, we have identified frequently asked questions about Act 20 and provided answers in this Act 20 Parent FAQs document.

Parents who have additional questions about Act 20 or their child's early literacy program should contact their child's teaacher.
