The Plan
The proposed plan will have a 210,000 square foot new building with 32,000 square feet of renovated space. The remaining older sections of the existing middle school will be demolished. In total, 87% of the facility would be new construction
The proposed middle school would have:
- Capacity to serve up to 1,200 students in 6th-8th grade (current configuration is 7th-8th grade), creating more space at the elementary level.
- Classrooms/labs for tech ed/hands-on learning.
- Flexible spaces for student performances and collaboration/project-based learning.
- A 3-court gym and fitness area for students and community use.
- Proper separation of pedestrians and vehicle/bus traffic and additional parking.
- Energy-efficient systems and natural lighting.
- Updated practice fields and track.

Besides providing updated learning spaces for Park View Middle School 7th and 8th grade students, the revised plan gives district 6th grade expanded opportunities, including:
- Academic exposure in world language, mathematics, family and consumer education, career and technical education, and music (band/orchestra)
- Additional co-curricular and extra-curricular and athletic opportunities
Currenty, other similar Waukesha County school districts offer greater access to coursework and after school activities. This proposal will bring MASD into line with these other districts:
In addition, the former 6th grade classrooms at each of our district's elementary schools can be repurposed for current and future needs, inclduing special education, student interventions, co-curricular and extra-curricular needs, and future growth.
